KASPRZAK’S BIG BYD

It really was a Special K night at the Polonia Stadium, Bydgoszcz, with Krzysztof pulling off a masterful performance to finish second in the SGP of Poland against the best riders in the world.

Krzysztof opened his account with a great race win, holding off a strong challenge from champion elect Nicki Pedersen, current world champion Jason Crump, and British number two Scott Nicholls.

A last place in his second ride proved to be a slight set back but back to back race wins and a fighting second place saw him cruise into the semi – finals where he held off his Leszno team mate Jarek Hampel and former Poole partner Bjarne Pedersen to grab a place in Grand Final.

From the tapes it was Kasprzak who momentarily took the lead, before Tomasz Gollob produced one of his sensational outside passes to hit the front. Nicki Pedesersen and Andreas Jonsson did their best to find a way past, but Kasprzak was too fast and easily held them off to take a well deserved second place and the silver medal.

“ I am really pleased to have done so well “ said Krzysztof “ It was a great night for me, my sponsors, and my fans. I would like to say a big thank you to them all for helping me so much.”

“ I now have to concentrate on getting everything ready for next weekend’s GP qualifier at Vojens. This is my big chance to get into next year’s GP’s and I intend to get there without having to hope for a permanent wild card.”

SPECIAL K TRIUMPHS IN ITALY

Three race wins, and a second place, proved enough to take Krzysztof through to the Final of the Qualifying Round for the 2008 SGP series which takes place in Vojens, Denmark on 15 September.

With track conditions at Lonigo favouring the fast starters, Kris had to be at his best to grab one of the top eight qualification places on offer and this he did with some ease, apart from running a last place in his third ride.

“ I am very happy “ he said “ It was always going to be a tough meeting but I managed to score enough points to take me to Vojens later in the year. Now I must concentrate on the World Cup and scoring points for Poland.”

And Kris won’t have to wait too long before getting the chance to weigh up the Vojens track, as he will be lining up for Poland at the Danish raceway when the Finals of the Speedway World Cup gets underway on Saturday 14 July.

Lonigo Semi Final Result – Top Eight qualify for Vojens:

Bjarne Pedersen 11

KRZYSZTOF CONTINUES HIS RUN OF GREAT FORM

Krzysztof continued his recent run of good form by scoring 16 + 1 hard earned points for Lakeside in their 53 - 40 home league triumph over the Belle Vue Aces.

The Polski Hammer was in scintillating form, racing to 5 wins from his six starts, his only defeat coming when he was headed by Joe Screen and team mate Jonas Kylmakorpi in Heat 10.

" I am pleased to have scored so well " he said " This is my third meeting in the last three days, and the travelling has left me feeling a little tired. But I try and put it to the back of my mind and get on with my job which is scoring points for Lakeside."

Kasprzak now faces another flight back to Poland to start his preparations for another overseas trip at the weekend. This time he travels to Lonigo, Italy where he will take part in the Grand Prix semi final, knowing that he needs a top eight finish in order to qualify for the Finals in Vojens, and a possible place in the FIM SGP series in 2008.

KRIS PREPARES FOR 2008 FIM IMG QUALIFIER

This weekend sees Krzysztof take the next step down the path to the 2008 FIM IMG Grand Prix series when he takes his place in the GP qualification semi final at Lonigo on Saturday 7 July.

Kris has been drawn at four in the sixteen rider line - up, which also includes Leszno team mates Jaroslaw Hampel, Damian Balinski and Juric Pavlic. Tomasz Gapinski rounds out the Polish interest in this round, with Kris also having to keep an eye on former Poole team mates Bjarne Pedersen and Lukas Dryml who will also be in the hunt for a place in the Final.

" This is going to be a tough one " said Kris " but I am ready. Preparations for this meeting have gone well so far and we are looking to make it through to the last 16. I will not be taking anything for granted, I will just try and do my best and win a few races."

One thing however is certain and that is the competition is sure to be hot, with only the top eight certain of making it through to the Final at Vojens in September.

Krzysztof Kasprzak has continued his fine start to 2007 by racing to the first full maximum of his British career with a faultless 15 point haul for the Lakeside Hammers in their Elite League match against Belle Vue.

“ Everything came just right for me tonight”, he said “ Five starts, five races, five wins, it couldn’t get much better. I am really happy, not only for myself, but for the team and the fans. My mechanics also did a great job for and the bikes were perfect.”

“ To score a maximum is always good at any time, but to get one at the tough Arena raceway feels even better. Who says that Poles can’t ride small tracks.”

“ The Lakeside team has started the season really well. Team spirit is good and we are really buzzing right now. We can’t wait for our next match.”

The Hammers were never in any trouble against the Manchester – based Belle Vue side, running out easy winners by 58 – 34. This result will also send out a warning to all the other league sides that there will be no easy matches at the Arena raceway this year.
